Decorative Ideas for Your Concrete Floors

While we’re known for our epoxy systems and concrete, Cutting Edge Decorative Concrete can also create specialty concrete flooring for your home or workplace! Concrete doesn’t have to be boring. In fact, we have more ways to make it interesting than you might think.

One way to make your concrete floor look a little more interesting is to create faux wood. While faux wood tile or laminate floorings are fairly common in homes, concrete can also take on the look and feel of a hardwood floor through the use of decorative overlays, concrete stamps, and paint. This could be an easier-to-maintain alternative to hardwood flooring, too, since concrete is less likely to scratch or break and doesn’t require wood polishing. On top of that, there are nearly infinite possibilities when it comes to color!

You can also use epoxy coating to add a marble touch to your home. The marble pattern in the flooring is created using metallic coatings, which offer endless possibilities of colors and color combinations. Plus, marbled flooring is installed in three layers, meaning that your flooring has the potential to stand up to years of normal wear and tear.

Concrete flooring can also be used to mimic other flooring materials in appearance (like the faux wood mentioned above). For example, a concrete floor can be made to look like tile by simple etching faux grout lines into the concrete. This idea can even be extended to etching a logo into the flooring of your business! With the availability of so many types of stencils and stamps, almost any design is possible.

Epoxy treatments can also be used to create the look of a painted concrete floor, since it comes in a variety of colors. This can double as a way to strengthen or repair a pre-existing concrete floor, since epoxy hardens (rather than drying, like normal paint) and can make your floor much harder and more durable.

Perhaps one of the most interesting ways to add some extra appeal to a concrete floor is to consider installing a lighted concrete floor. This innovative flooring is created by placing LED lights on a wired infrastructure that sits near the surface of the concrete. This arrangement is made in a way that allows the LED lights to create holes in the surface of the concrete when it’s poured and let light pass through.

Any of these decorative concrete ideas could be a great addition to your space, whether it’s indoor or outdoor, residential or commercial!
